Who is minho named after in the maze runner

But when I think of Minho, it reminds me of a fish Is that like a fishes name or something? Jun 17, PM. Oksana wrote: "Does this sound weird? Jun 20, AM. Jun 30, PM. I thing that frypan's got something going here..

Jul 16, AM. I think that Theresa is named after Tesla. Mother Theresa wasn't a scientist So I think Tesla makes the most sense. The females in the trilogy are named after female revolutionaries. In book one Thomas said Theresa wasn't a scientists name. Jul 16, PM. Yeah, Harriet Tubman wasn't exactly a scientist either. But thanks Melody! It's nice to know what was actually going through the author's mind.

It seems rather sloppy to not actually mention that in the book though. I'm not terribly surprised though. While this series is very entertaining, you can't claim it's written very well.

I would say it's not even up to the standards of, say, The Hunger Games. Jul 24, AM. The sign next to her door says Teresa Agnes. Mother Teresa's real name is Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. There is no doubt in my mind that she is named after Mother Teresa. Aug 01, PM.

Haha to the first comment. Chuck Norris and Indiana Jones, that made me laugh quite a bit! Aug 24, AM. Who Minho was named after really bothered while I was reading the series. He was my favorite character, and I'm also an asian, but I don't think I've ever heard a scientist named Minho. Aug 26, PM. Jay wrote: "Yeah, Harriet Tubman wasn't exactly a scientist either. It seems rather sloppy to not actually mention that That's not fair. Of course it isn't gonna "live up to the standards" of The Hunger Games.

They are different stories, and they don't need to be compared. That's the thing about this series. People don't give it a chance because it's not their precious Hunger Games. Of course it isn't going to be. Sorry, I like both stories, I really do. I just don't like it when people complain that a book's not the next Harry Potter, or the next whatever. They're not! They are different stories and there are a billion more out there!

Aug 31, AM. My cohort in crime, Jenny, and I interviewed James Dashner awhile back and had the same question. Is that right? Dashner: Yep. Jenny: Cool! Dashner: The thing with the names is there really is no significance to them. People always ask me who Minho was named after. The production had to hire snake wranglers to make sure the areas where they were filming were snake free.

Before filming began the wranglers found 25 venomous snakes. The biggest one they found was a 5 foot rattlesnake. To gain the role of Chuck, actor Blake Cooper continuously campaigned for an audition via twitter. He would send director Wes Ball tweet after tweet after tweet stating that he was made for the role. Wes Ball eventually relented and told Cooper to send his audition to the casting director who stated that Cooper was the perfect Chuck.

The cast spent the week before production participating in survival training in the glade. They learned how to build tools and shelter out of the surrounding nature.

Of the largely British cast, only actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who plays Newt, got to keep his accent. Author James Dashner has said that Minho is not named after anyone famous but his niece's Korean husband. Ball reconsidered when he was sent a photo of O'Brien without his hair gelled. To prepare for shooting, director Wes Ball had the cast spend a night in the Glade set during boot camp.

Producer Wyck Godfrey had his 3 boys offer casting advice. He would show his kids the auditions and get their feedback. His kids have read the books. D is pronounced as wicked, because in the book the acronym was W. In the book, the walls of the maze were much, much taller which is why the gladers weren't able to climb them to the top. The maze is also contained within a dome. The sky and the weather are all artificial.

Kaya Scodelario's favorite day on set was when she spent an entire shooting day on the top of a tree with O'Brien. She said that was when they really spent time together as actors and got to know each other better. It was the scene where he was running from his first griever and when he went to jump, he slipped.

The filmmakers never tested the cast members' physical abilities i. Changes from the book to the movie include downplaying telepathy between Teresa and Thomas, and downplaying Teresa's coma. Thomas Brodie-Sangster auditioned for both Thomas and Newt. Will Poulter auditioned for Gally and Newt. In the movie the grievers have legs and run, but in the book they roll and have arms inside them that come out and have things such as knives on the end.

Director, Wes Ball originally met with Fox Studios to direct a feature length version of his short film 'Ruin'. They offered him the chance to direct 'The Maze Runner' and he accepted. In the books, the Gladers all know their names when they first come up. It doesn't take a few days to come to them.

In the scene where Thomas first writes his name of the wall with the other names there is the name "Alec" which is a reference to the other maze runner series book kill order where Alec is one of the main protagonists. The book features the "Glader's" own slang, including shank, shuck, klunk, greenie, slinthead, shuck-face, and a few others. The movie also has a few here and there. Ball mentions Jurassic Park as one of the films that has most influenced his style, as he wants to make a PG movie that doesn't pander to kids.

Hi guys, I don't want to sound petty or whiny. But please be careful about what spoilers you guys reveal in these discussions. Remember, this discussion is for just the first book. Please mark your spoilers, so that those of us that have not finished the series don't have things spoiled for us. I clicked on this link to see if anyone figured out Minho's name, and accidentally found out what happens to Jack. In another thread, someone mentioned another quite major character dying, which did not happen in the first book.

Again, I don't mean to stir up any anger, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate the spoilers be edited. Thank you. View all 6 comments. Jessany Jan 14, PM 1 vote. Joseph Fry was the scientist who created the candy bar. Would make sense as Frypan is a cook. Agnes anyone? Though he said that its someone who could be famous in the future Zart- Mozart Aris- Aristotle I also read that a majority of the girls in the books are named after religious figures, with the exception of Harriet H.

Tubman and Sonya variation of Sonia Sotomayor? View all 3 comments. Sidney Mar 03, PM 1 vote. These are smaller characters, but I figure people kind of agree on the bigger characters and I have no life so I paused the movie and wrote down the names of all of the characters on the wall.

Plus it's kind of like a puzzle and I love puzzles. Katie Mar 18, AM 0 votes. Do you have any View 2 comments. Ben Nov 27, AM 0 votes. Cherie Apr 29, AM 0 votes. Interestingly enough, I just read that it's pronounced "meen-oh" Which makes since because it is a Korean name I believe. Magpie Nov 20, AM 0 votes.
